What is research?

What is research? Research is an in depth investigation into a range of materials and resources in attempt or aim to understand facts, statistics and opinions to reach new conclusions. Research is a practice undertaken to get a new insight in the topic under investigation to make ones argument stronger. Research is a key element to practice is it is used everywhere and by almost everyone. Restaurant owners use it before putting new food on the menu in case they encounter a customer who may have allergies they can offer an alternative, an architect would use it in attempt to use the finest materials and remain spending as little as possible to save as much money as possible. A student would undergo as much research as possible to argue their point is the best in an essay.

Primary research is a specific type of research that you undergo and carry out yourself. Primary research could range from surveys, interviews, personal or professional observations and a study and description of different human societies meaning research into people’s cultures, habits and mutual differences.

Primary research is used to get the basic statistics about the topic under investigation. A skilled researcher can use primary research in their work and skillfully interpret the research in their own words.

Secondary research otherwise known as quantitative research is research already gathered from another source from either the source or another distributor of primary research. This means gathering information from a source that has already been gathered somewhere else. In some cases finding information from magazine articles, company websites and market researching reports would be ideal to carry out secondary research. Information already gathered weather it be from previous market research, old sales reports, records involving accounts all fall under the category of secondary research.

Market research is taking on the act of collating information about the consumer’s wants and needs and preferences. Looking at market research from a company’s point of view, as a company to test a new product they would take on market research as to how popular it would be and if it would reach to their market audience.

Production budget, a production budget determines and varies how much money will be spent on the film project, some of the things the money will be spent on is per-production, promotion of the film, filming, the salary of the cast including on and off camera, set construction, wardrobes virtually everything. A production budget plays a major role in the production of a film. Marketing may not seem like a big deal but marketing makes up for a massive amount of modern movie budgets.

Overall I believe that undergoing an extended amount of research enables you to have a wide range of knowledge on a topic and allows you to come up with your own opinion in any given situation. As a student research is key as in our work’s outcome may be different if we didn’t undergo any research. Research allows us as students to get an insight to other peoples opinions as well as proven facts and statistics which, allows us to come up with our own conclusions.
